The air was filled with excitement and nervousness this weekend as Jimmy Fallon, host of the Tonight Show, received the Elmer Award for Excellence in Humor from Harvard University’s humor magazine, The Harvard Lampoon. Previous recipients of this award include Jay Leno and Robin Williams. In honor of this achievement Fallon paraded through Harvard Square in a horse driven chariot with a crown. How else are you supposed to celebrate after being given the title “Emperor of Comedy”?
The phenomenal Belmont High School marching band proved to us once again why they are the, “Pride of Belmont,”. Chosen out of thousands of high schools in the state, our very own marching marauders were selected to perform in the parade honoring Fallon. They played several songs that equally matched the upbeat tempo of the event. One song in particular, Sweet Caroline, a Boston baseball classic, got everyone moving. Including Fallon, who cheered along and sang with the crowd.

Overall the event was a complete success and an unforgettable experience for the BHS marching band.
